Yoga and Recovery

Sleep is medicine! A nightime yoga practice for sweet slumber

If you’re in recovery, you know that getting quality sleep is essential to healing and staying on track. Unfortunately, about 30% of Americans struggle with getting enough restful sleep, and for many in recovery, that number is even higher. Sleep issues can stem from lingering physical discomfort, but often it’s the mental and emotional noise that keeps us awake. The mind can feel like it’s stuck in overdrive when what you really need is to power down.

So, what can help? Yoga! (We always find yoga is the answer around here.)

A short 20-minute yoga practice at the end of your day can work wonders in calming your mind and body, setting you up for a more peaceful night. Start by creating a wind-down routine. Turn off screens, grab an uplifting book, shower, brush your teeth (and yes, floss too), dim the lights, and then roll out your yoga mat. After your practice, crawl into bed and let yourself sink into a deep, blissful sleep.

This simple routine can help ease your nervous system and support your recovery journey, one restful night at a time.
